Interests: Buying new CDs and finding ways to get rid of old ones... coming in 2nd in NCAA bracket pools... discovering how to best gate a kick and snare drums but make them sound natural in the mix... generally being a nerd... my role as a forgiven sinner knee deep in the rapidly decaying American culture/secular workforce.
Expertise: Apparently some combination of Electrical and Acoustical engineering (at least there's a piece of paper on my wall that professes as much)... Composing/producing/recording/performing music (at least there's a piece of plastic in my wallet from ASCAP that professes as much)... Recommending better records than what you're listening to now.

Caleb Glenn Wheeler

Caleb Glenn Wheeler was born at 2:50pm on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 (his adherence to his exact due date bodes well for his appreciation for order and structure, and desire to follow in his father's engineering footsteps).

He weighed in at 7 lbs and 9 oz and measured 19' long. Mom and Dad are doing well and thank everyone for their support and prayers.

The Bruised Reed "Pass Around the Easy Lie" Available Now (FREE)

I've called it a day on the two-plus years of cobbling together stray songs in what time I could find, and compiled them all into one CD called "Pass Around the Easy Lie". If you're of the new iPod/MP3 downloading generation, you can go to the following link and download the entire CD for free in 192kbps:

http://thebruisedreed.googlepages.com

If you're old school and prefer a physical copy (and like covers/liner notes), I have printed up a good handful with covers and will get one to you if you ask.

Either way, I'd love if you'd take (at least) a quick listen to the labor and let us know what you think. Scathing criticisms always welcome...

-The Bruised Reed (Josh & Kirsten, with occasional life-saving help from Ben)

The Bruised Reed (2 new songs)

...AKA "how I spent my Christmas vacation."

So here's two new tracks (probably the last two for the foreseeable future). I'm working on remixing/remastering a few of the old tracks then compiling the 9 we have into one (nearly) full length CD that we will be selling for the low, low price of $0. It will be available for free download from our page (http://thebruisedreed.googlepages.com) and I will actually make up some physical copies with a pretty cover and everything, so if you want one, please let me know so I will print up enough. Anyway:

1. So much (on the lighter side of things)

2. Motionless, airless (on the darker side of things)

Look for the (nearly) full length CD to be available sometime this/next week. In the meantime, let me know what you think of these two. I'm always looking for positive/negative/indifferent feedback...I think I tend to illicit more of the 'indifferent' kind for some reason :)

May the evening find you well.

-Josh

Good reminders

It seems as much as I plan and read and listen to try and do everything I can to become a good parent, it's sometimes the simplest things that I often don't remember. I'm thankful that my boy Jason sent these along to me as friendly reminders.
